Unfortunately, we all are familiar with dog bites. But did you know that there were 42 U.S. dog bite-related fatalities in 2014?

See the chart for 2014 U.S. Dog Bite Fatalities.

In 2014, one fatality involved dogs from three different breeds, thus producing a "death credit" total of 44 rather than 42. Eight dog breeds each contributed to one death, including: Australian Shepherd, Cane Corso, Catahoula Leopard Dog, German Shepherd, Heeler (blue and red), Hound, Keeshond-mix and Mastiff.

In the 10-year period from 2005 to 2014, Pit Bulls killed 203 Americans and accounted for 62% of the total recorded deaths (326). Combined, Pit Bulls and Rottweilers accounted for 74% of these deaths.

In my experience any breed of dog can cause injuries and unfortunately children tend to be the most common victim. I, like most of you, am a dog lover and have two loveable labs of my own. I am always extra cautious when children are present. If you or a loved one are injured by a dog you should consider contacting an attorney to discuss your rights.
